LOTUS EARRINGS

The lotus flower starts as a small flower down at the bottom of a pond in the mud and muck. It slowly grows up towards the waters surface continually moving towards the light. Once it arrives at the surface of the water the lotus begins to blossom and turn into a beautiful flower. Because of this, the lotus flower has become a symbol for spiritual awakening. It has been revered for thousands of years as a sign of purity, divinity, rebirth, immortality, spiritual growth and resurrection.

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Leslie Caplan lived on the island of Bali for 7 years.  The grace and elegance of Bali's culture inspired her to create a jewelry line that embodies the same qualities that were evoked in her while living there.  Feminine, timeless, and with sweet symbology, Leslie's inspiration was to capture the essence of the beauty that is Bali, and to translate that beauty into a line of jewelry that will enhance and compliment the innate lovliness that is in all woman.

Handcrafted by a small local Balinese family, each piece literally carries with it, the depth of heart and talent intrinsically woven in the Balinese culture.  The craftsmanship is impeccable, and each piece purchased supports the continuation of this local family's ability to not only sustain itself, but to thrive and prosper as well.

Leslie now lives in Ashland, Oregon.  She has recently sent her 16 year old, half Balinese son to return to his birth island and live amongst his father, his people, and his culture.  The purchase of A la Bali jewelry also supports his journey to integrate and know deeply, the other half of who he is.  His purpose to be a bridge.
